Continuous Earth ground vibrations known as microseisms, produced by wind driven ocean gravity waves, are strongly dependent on the properties and morphology of the sea bed. A better characterization of this complex wavefield at the seafloor and on land can, not only benefit seismic passive imaging and monitoring, but also help track ocean storms using seismic signals recorded on land. This seminar will focus on how different approaches in numerical modeling and new data acquisition can help improve our general understanding of Rayleigh and Love wave microseism sources.
